I’m on a trip through Denmark visiting family and then NYC next week for work and the Webby Film and Video Awards. I’m currently kicking it in Roskilde, DK, home of the big ass Roskilde Music Festival that wish I could go to this year.

Wow. After reading about Microsoft’s renewed assault on the rest of the world, I was reminded how brilliant Richard Stallman was in creating the GNU Public License (GPL). It was created 20 years ago to keep free software free, predicting exactly what Microsoft is trying to do today. The software patent system is totally broken and Microsoft is taking advantage of that broken system to try and kill free software. Interesting times indeed. Here’s a GETV interview we did with Richard Stallman last year at HOPE, explaining the freedoms of software creation and why they are important.

After seeing this Rocketboom episode and this tutorial, I thought I’d play around with creating a simple video panorama. Shot in the District wine bar in San Francisco. Gary Vaynerchuk from Wine Library TV was in town and his holding court with some fans. Gary is a rad dude and if you’re into wine at all, his vlog is a must see.

This is just way fucked up. At the May Day immigrant rally in Los Angeles, the LAPD completely went overboard using batons and rubber bullets on peaceful protesters. This video put together by GameJew captures the rawness and realness of the situation in away that mainstream media generally can’t.
